Time for an upgrade. It's been a while since I've made any real improvements to this website and I really want to expand the types of things that I have/can post here - beyond the blog, pictures, etc. So you can expect some changes and experimentation to come over the next several days. Feel free to criticize any changes you see. The last time I made a big alteration to the structure everyone seemed to hate it so I had to quickly change it back. I actually listen to the criticism and suggestions I receive here, so please give it.
On a somewhat related note: I think everyone should have their own website. Whether it be a personal blog like mine, or a portfolio-type website, or even just contact info, you should have some sort of fully personalized presence on the internet aside from your Myspace or Facebook profile. Social network profiles should merely be additions to whatever your website is. Be an individual and show some creativity. At least that's my personal opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Sean:Too bad.

Colonel Mustard:I also disagree! Must one's business be everyone else's business?

Sean:No! Not at all. I personally chose to talk about some of the things I do in my day to day life, but I'm not saying that everyone has to. All I'm saying is that instead just making some mindless myspace page that's packed with advertisements why not create something form scratch. Make your own website, even if it just has a picture or an email address letting people know how they can contact you. People list their names in the phonebook don't they? Why not list yourself in Google. If somebody has your name or email address, chances are they can find something about you already on the internet. Why not craft the way people will perceive you instead of letting someone else do it for you?
I realize I'm not being that articulate here, but I'm just trying to say that having your own website doesn't necessarily mean you'll be making your business everyone elses. And people don't have to read anything about you if you don't wish to, so I'm not forcing my business on anyone else. People simply chose to read the stuff I post.
And at the same time I believe people should share their interests & knowledge, and I believe in openness and sharing of information (to an certain extent), so I think that having all these private social network accounts as one's only online presence is ridiculous.

kevin:I think it's funny that dad would disagree considering how he uses websites to keep track of what his children have been up to.

Sean:True. Well, he may take advantage of it but still not necessarily approve.

Sean:I'll do it if somebody wants to follow me around with a camera.

Bell:A lot of people don't want to share their lives in that kind of way, though. And for hundreds of different reasons... some peoples depth of career success depends on the their clients & employers personal judgement and opinion of them. Another thing is that some people don't have the time to do it, as it can be really time consuming... I know I personally can't stand to spend much more time on a computer after I've been working on one for 9 or 10 hours straight. It's really just another form of self expression, though... some people blog, some people write, some create music, others paint, draw, take pictures, some people are raising children, some are teaching, etc etc. I think alot of people already have very personal outlets and contributions that they share with the world every single day of their lives, it's just not as direct and obvious as an insertyournamehere.com!

Dan:Hey Sean,
I agree with you and many of the comments on your recent post Cleanup Time. Everyone has their own way to express themselves and the internet offers many outlets for that.
On a similar note...I was reading your bio and wanted to know if I can have a conversation with you regarding the building and design of a website? I'm a novice to this whole website thing. Let me know when (or if) you’re available. I tried emailing you at the seanhenri.com address but it was returned??
Thanks
