Winter Campout and December Court of Honor

Troop 3 Winter Campout

Dec 14-16, 2007

Tierney Leanto Campsite at Ed Strang Scout Reservation

Arrive after 6PM on Dec 14,   Depart by 10AM on Dec 16

Patrol cooking for all meals except Saturday Dinner, which will be a Turkey Feast

Each patrol has been assigned to cook parts of the feast.

Weekend includes: catapult build & assault, capture the flag/Manhunt, day hike

Winter hat, jacket and boots required. Dress in layers and bring winter sleeping bag or sleeping bag and blanket.  Refer to Scout handbook for complete list of required personal gear.

Must sign up with Mr. Oppel by Dec 5 troop meeting to participate.  No charge for the weekend (except for your part of your patrol’s meal expense). See your patrol leader for more information.

Troop Court of Honor/Campfire/Christmas Party

Dec 12, 2007, 7-9PM at Derby 2^nd Congregational Church

All scouts and their families are encouraged to attend.

Rank advancement & merit badges to be awarded.

Patrols to do original Christmas skits and lead a Christmas song

Bring a $5 wrapped grab bag gift and a tray of cookies.

Troop 3 to help sponsor Macaroni & Meatball Family Supper to benefit Housatonic Council BSA

What: Macaroni & Meatball Family Supper featuring home-style Macaroni, Meatball, Sausage, Sauce, Bread, Salad, Soda, Coffee and Dessert.

Prepared by Marc & Margaret Garofalo & friends of Housatonic Council BSA.

Where: St. Mary's Church Hall, 212 Elizabeth St, Derby

When: Saturday, Dec 1, 2007, 5:30PM

Who: Everyone is invited. Reservations required. Scouts needed to serve as waiters. Parents needed to help with setup, ticket sales & takedown.

How: $10.00 adults — $8.00 children 16 & under.

Nov 14th is Troop 3 Swim Night in Derby

The Nov 14^th

                             Troop 3 Meeting Will be a

Survival Themed Swim Night

                                                 At

The Derby Pool at the Derby Veteran’s Building

7 to 8:30PM

We will meet at the 2^nd Congregational Church at 7PM

NO SCOUT UNIFORMS!!!

Wear your swimsuit under sweatpants and bring a change of clothes & towel

Swim Night will include:

ü      Swimming instruction

ü      Water survival and First Aid

ü      Ring Buoy throw

ü      Swim Relays for Patrol Points

ü       Free Swim Time

The troop will cover the $2 entry fee.

This is a good event to bring a friend who might want to join Scouting

Scouting for food - food pickup

Calling all Scouts, Leaders and parents;

Our troop will be picking up the Scouting for food bags on Saturday Nov 10, beginning at 11AM. We will meet at the 2nd Congregational Church and bring the food to the Scout Office drop off point for boxing and delivering to the food distribution centers throughout the valley. Wear your Troop t shirt.

Both flyer dropoff and bag pickup days will count towards community service hours and troop events required for rank advancement.

Each patrol is expected to have at least one parent driver.
